2011-Present | The liminal space of Cape Ann has become for the artist a symbol of that grand and costly simplicity, the lineaments of which we only receive glimpses. These paintings offer a celebration of those beautiful and mysterious fragments.
Ordinary Saints
2013 | The Latin memento mori (“remember you must die”) summarizes the humble posture of one who commits to a life of spiritual discipline, humility, and service. Portraying this smallness and fragility is what the Ordinary Saints project is striving for.
QU4RTETS
2012 – 2013 | The three artists involved in this collaborative project responded to T. S. Eliot’s Four Quartets from a similar faith commitment to see how faith in Christ can continue to inform works of art, music, and poetry in the 21st century.
Magnificat
2005 – 2009 | The insights that have emerged from this project hover around Mary’s toughness and steadfastness – and her obedience of faith and works, her standing and moving through grief, and perseverance in the midst of pain.
The Body Broken
2002 – 2005 | As a painter, I want very much to see my work as part of that faithful attempt to act out of love and the desire for healing. The broken body becomes not only the site of meeting, but also the encounter with love and hope and healing.
